Dielectrophoresis

Human Cells A component of InGeneron’s technology portfolio is intellectual property and know-how related to dielectrophoresis and dielectrophoretically modulated field flow fractionation. This work is based on intellectual property licensed from the University of Texas, originating in the lab of Peter Gascoyne, Ph.D. and on continued work at and for the company.

Dielectrophoresis involves creating forces that act on uncharged particles due to polarization induced by non-uniform electric fields. Dielectrophoresis-related work in Dr. Gascoyne’s laboratory and at the company has primarily involved separation of cell or other particle mixtures, differential trapping of particles and identification of cell and particle types. Dielectrophoretically modulated field flow fractionation can be utilized to rapidly fractionate heterogeneous populations of cells without the use of antibodies or other modifying reagents.
